Hi! I'm a painter of moments-in-between, those mundane, ordinary moments of the past that seem to take on great significance in memory. I work with oils on linen and wood panels to create paintings that tell stories. References for my paintings come from vernacular photographs from my own family and ones I collect from thrift shops.
My interest in painting moments and old family photos came from a fascination with the stories that the images could tell. My father left behind 1000s of old family photos, a mixture of his family, my mom’s family, and my own childhood. I picked some of the oddballs- not good lighting, out of focus, odd position- and made some paintings. I found myself drawn to the stories I could create.
